The Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Wayland Township Area Local Revenue Sharing Board determines which local townships and municipalities receive a portion of the funds using established bylaws. Bob Genetski, R-Saugatuck, accepted the ceremonial check on behalf of the state, praising the Gun Lake Tribe for economic contributions to Allegan County. The revenue sharing payments, which are made twice a year, are designed to reimburse local governments for any costs associated with casino operations, replacement of tax revenue and public services. The payments are a result of the tribal-state compact designating 2 percent of total electronic gaming revenue for local municipalities and 8 to 12 percent of the same for the state, depending on the total.
